Unless otherwise agreed upon by both Captains, all matches are full 2 out of 3 sets, golden point scoring. All 4 lines do not need to play at once. Advised format is 2 matches (any 2 lines) followed by the remaining 2 lines. Teams/Clubs are awarded 3 points for each individual match/line won. Team/clubs are awarded 1 point for each set won. Club with the most points in their conference after the regular season will advance to the America’s Cup.
If a team fails to meet the parameters, the team is disqualified and the opponents will automatically win that line.
In this case the player would be disqualified from the match and the club would lose that particular match by default. Every club/captain is responsible for making sure all their players have a verified WPR.
If a club does not appear to an event that was previously agreed upon by both captains, the opponents will be awarded a 4-0 win. Other consequences may be applicable for repeated offenses.
A single club may have more than one team, and will need to assign a name to differentiate the teams, ie Sports Haus 1 and Sports Haus 2 could both play in the same league and conference. A single club can also have teams that compete in more than one league, provided all players/teams meet requirements for that league.
If captains cannot agree on a date for their match, and haven’t completed tor scheduled heir match by the end of the 6th week of the season, the League Commissioner will assign a date for the match or work out an alternate solution.
For new players on World Padel Rating, an initial verified rating is assigned by the club. If a club is blatantly low-balling a players’ initial rating, the club will be penalized.
If there is a tie in points, head to head results will decide the winner. Game differential will be the next tie-breaker after H2H.
If a club finished first in their conference they advance to the final showdown (America’s Cup). In certain cases, the second place team of a very competitive conference will also quality for the America’s Cup Showdown. This will be determined before the season begins based on conference strength and number of total conferences so the America’s Cup has an ideal number of teams playing to fit the format, with the Commissioner making the final decision.
A player must have played at least 1 regular conference/season match for their club in order to represent their club in the Showdown. WPR requirements must be respected even for the America’s Cup Showdown. If a team needs a substitute, they may replace with a player that has a lower verified WPR than the lowest player on their eligibility list (ie lower than the lowest WPR of a player that has played for the club).
The guidelines are to maximize level based play. WPR guidelines must be met at the time the roster is announced or at match-time. There may cases where a player’s rating gets updated from a USPA event or other in the previous week so be sure rosters are announced early to the Commissioner or be sure players WPR’s are within guidelines at match time.
First off, it defeats the spirit of the league. Clubs are responsible for assigning an initial rating for new players to WPR. If a club blatantly mis-rates a player on the low end, and this player gets flagged by a certain number of other captains, the player may be re-rated and/or club may be penalized.
We launch a womens-only league (soon), the leagues are also based on WPR. As long as players/teams meet the WPR requirements, they can play in the league for their club. In the future, there will be women only leagues, and mens only leagues, as well as other formats.
Captains may chose to have 2 lines start, followed by the other 2 lines. At the America’ Cup Showdown, there will be 2 lines playing (determined by random selection just before the match), followed by the remaining 2 lines. The purpose here is to maximize the support while teammates are playing. In America’s Cup Showdown, if there is 2-2 tie, a super-breaker with selected players from each team will compete to break the tie.
Either captain can submit scores to the Commissioner directly and/or Regional Directors. Captains can also email the League Commissioner to report scores with full detail and copying the other captain. Be sure to include full names of players in each line.
Absolutely. Subsequent seasons will incorporate different leagues: ie ELITE, men’s and women’s A, B, and C levels, seniors, etc.
The top line for each club has no WPR restrictions. Lines 2 – 4 must have an average WPR of less than 15. Lines are played in order of best team WPR’s, meaning a club must play their best average WPR team first , followed by their next best for lines 2 , 3 and 4.
