The competition on Day 2 started to see some separation from teams like Miami, San Diego and Chile and the rest of the pack chasing them. But there’s still lots to play out on Saturday.

The morning kicked off with two undefeated Group B teams in Montreal and San Diego. It was the latter that produced a dominant display winning 36 games to seven across the three divisions – Men’s D1, Men’s D2, Women’s. In the second Group B match, Connecticut defeated Austin (3-0) which puts them equal with Montreal on nine points and a record of 3-3. Connecticut will play Montreal tomorrow to decide who will finish second in Group B.
The late afternoon matches had Group C’s Miami taking on Calgary. Miami claimed the clean sweep, winning all three battles, but it was hard fought. The second set of the Men’s D1 game went to 7-5 and the Men’s D2 game went to a tiebreak (10-4). Oaxaca versus Charlotte was the other Group C match and that was won by Charlotte (2-1) who lost the Men’s D1 game in straight sets, won the Men’s D2 in a tiebreak (10-6) and held on in the Women’s second set 7-6.
The Group A evening matches saw a vocal crowd gather to watch Chile dismantle San Francisco (3-0) in all three matches winning 36 games to 14. Atlanta are now on the board with two wins over Toronto (2-1). Toronto earned a gritty win in the Men’s D2 match coming out on top 7-6 7-5. Toronto remain in second place on nine points with a record of 3-3 behind Chile who’s on 18 points.
Right now Chile, San Diego and Miami are the America’s Cup front runners and teams to beat. The teams chasing them are Toronto, Montreal, Connecticut, Charlotte. While the remaining teams are looking for a big Saturday for one last push to qualify for the knockout rounds.
